PUNK ROCK! A love of disenfranchised teens since 1977, and still going strong today. I love punk because at it’s core is attitude – not skill – that conveys the message, and it’s message is still that of revolution and rebellion, something not audible in other forms of “popular music”.
This week punk and metal fans get their fill. WEDNESDAY punk influenced duo from Montreal THE SOLIDS play the basement at Kootenay Co-op Radio, and are joined by ANIMAL FACES and Saskatoon doom metal outfit SHOOTING GUNS. Doors at 8p.m., $10. Remember all of our K.C.R. shows are broadcasted live at 93.5FM and stream at www.kootenaycoopradio.com if you can’t make it in person.
Saturday night, the punk comes out of the basement and into the club, as CRANK IT!!!(to 6) teams up with On The Road Productions to bring punk legends D.O.A. to Spiritbar. They’re on their “Farewell Tour”, and have local rock star Paddy Duddy behind the kit! Drunk On Purpose and Dealer open up the night, and we have some “surprises” lined up to keep you all amused. Advance tickets are $15 at the Hume Hotel front desk. Get on your bullet belt & get rocking – the government just approved the Northern Gateway Pipeline, so there’s plenty to be pissed off about!!!
